These last few months, we worked with Greenpeace Indonesia in their campaign to save Indonesia’s peat land and end forest fire. The main idea is to invite many good content creators to create various type of content (co-creation) to be used as campaign materials. Their work can be viewed on Greenpeace Indonesia’s Facebook Page, such as video from Kok Bisa about forest fire, video from Movio Initiative about canal damming, and 360 AR video from Festivo that took place in the middle of the burnt forest.
Last week, for six days, Communicaption with five photographers came to Greenpeace damming location in Sebangau, Central Kalimantan to portray the situation. Some of the photos has been published on their Instagram account: @kadekarini, @skinnymonkey, @nyimaslaula, @mrizag, @danartriatmojo, and also on @everydayinhaze, an Instagram account that specially made for haze disaster in Indonesia. These are some pictures from the damming camp:
- The big blue tent is the one that we used mainly for sleep, but also for end of the day briefing, editing, brainstorming, etc.
- Inside the main tent: the far end is multimedia area, the rest is sleeping area. We have to use this anti-bug cover to protect us while sleeping.
- It provides snacks, drinks, and other self-made bites.
- There are three showers and two toilets. On the left is dish washing area.
- We used Galam wood to make tables, benches, tent, and almost everything.
- Smaller tents for ladies and guests.
- The humanitarian team stayed here for about two weeks. They provided trauma healing activities for kids and forest fire anticipation induction for villagers. This place also supplies foods for the damming camp.
- These boats transporting the dam material and also food for people working at the dam site everyday.
- The temperature by day can reach more than 40 degrees celsius.
- Heavy rain pour almost everyday, mostly by noon to afternoon.
- Hotma (right) and Ricky (left) from Float were coming to support us. They also record music video live from the middle of burnt forest.
- The dam one day before finished. The water level increased by almost 100 cm after the dam is done.
- We're finally there, the human process is 100% done, the rest are the nature process. The trees that we plant will grow and strengthen the dam and finally become a real forest again.
